About the FOI Program

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Program promotes transparency and accountability in government by providing citizens access to public records and documents. Under this program, any Filipino citizen can request information from government offices.

Response Time: Government offices are required to respond to FOI requests within 15 working days from receipt of the request.

What Can You Request?
  • Official records, documents, and papers
  • Contracts and financial records
  • Research data used as basis for policy development
  • Ordinances, resolutions, and legislative records
  • Meeting minutes and official correspondence
  • Other documents of public interest
Exceptions

Certain information may be exempt from disclosure, including:

  • Information covered by Executive privilege
  • Privileged information relating to national security, defense, or international relations
  • Information that would endanger the life or safety of an individual
  • Personal information protected by the Data Privacy Act
  • Pending investigation or enforcement proceedings
